What to Wear for an Adventure Engagement Shoot

If you’ve decided that having an adventure engagement photo session is right for you, you’re probably feeling so excited. You know the pictures will be absolutely stunning and extra special for you and your partner. Knowing what to bring along with you for your photo shoot can definitely bring along its own challenges though. You’ll want to look fabulous, but still, be comfortable and practical. You’ll need to stay warm or cool, depending on the season, and you’ll also need miscellaneous items like sunscreen and water, but you also don’t want to over pack. So where to begin? Bringing along the right essentials will ensure your session goes off without a hitch and you stay comfortable and relaxed.
Comfortable clothes. After you and your photographer decide where your photo shoot will be, make sure you check the weather and pack practical clothing options. Be mindful if you’ll have to walk to your location— you’ll want to wear comfortable shoes and workout clothes. If it’s going to be warm or really sunny, be sure to bring lightweight outfit options, and if it’s cold be sure to bring something that will keep you warm!
Sunscreen! When venturing outdoors, you always need to have sunscreen on hand. Especially during a photo shoot where you may be standing still for several minutes at a time while you get the right shot. Preventing sunburn is important, really simple, and shouldn’t be overlooked. Make sure to apply sunscreen at least 15 minutes before going out into the sun, and reapplying every 2 hours or so.
Water and snacks. Obviously, it is important to stay well hydrated while you’re outdoors. Bringing along plenty of water is key to making sure you stay cool and comfortable during your session. Having a snack can keep your energy up and help calm your nerves. Packing a couple of bottles of water and a granola bar is plenty.
Having your engagement photos taken outside may seem like it poses several problems, but with the proper planning and preparation, you’ll have a great experience. Keeping comfort and practicality in mind will ensure the perfect session, and you’ll absolutely love how your photos turn out!
